T.S.: Every year you organize in Torino a very successful endourological Meeting, the “Technology & Training in Endourology” or "T&T" Congress. Do you remember how was the first congress you organized, and also how it evolved throughout the years? C.M.S.: I remember that in 2010 I moved from the huge University Hospital of Orbassano to the small Cottolengo Hospital, where I became Director of the Department of Urology. When I arrived in 2010, the Department of Urology had few patients, and there were no patients at all to operate in the waiting list. In order to improve the situation I bet on Endourology. My idea was also to create an event for young urologists, to teach and share my endourological experience, because this is something I missed in my life. Therefore, "Technology & Training in Endourology" was based on this concept, to give the possibility to young urologists to learn techniques and see all the new technologies and devices. We started with an Italian congress for three years, then we switched to English as official language. I want to thank Professor Evangelos Liatsikos, the president of the Hellenic Urological Association, because Evangelos was the one who pushed me to make the "T&T" international with his good advice. Nowadays T&T is a very big congress and course with more than 200 attendees in person. Additionally, last year we had more than 650 participants via web and I want to underline that participation of the web course is free for any applicant. You can also review for one year the three days of the congress for free whenever
you like. This is a way to give the possibility to everybody to learn from the best endourological surgeons. I am very happy that also all the companies are supporting the congress more and more, because I think that the base of this congress, as every other congress, is to be serious, to have the best faculty, to share and not to have too many conflicts of interest.
F.N.: You have visited Greece many times. What do you love most in Greece? Could you name your favorite place?
C.M.S.: I love the sea! I like the islands, because it's a Mediterranean country, like Italy. When I arrived yesterday night in Thessaloniki, I took a look at the sea. Even though it was 2 o'clock in the night, it was really fascinating. Nonetheless, my favorite place is Athens, I think. I really appreciate the Parthenon, the Acropolis, the City and all the places full of history, because this is like in Italy, where there are also many historical places. It is the history of our countries. I also like to learn how a city like Athens evolved over the years. I love Greece, and I like Greek people very much, Greeks are really fantastic and welcoming!
